Description
I was lonely, tired and cold; lost and wandering the streets of Vienna and admiring everything about the city. And I was hungry, looking for a place to eat. That is when I spotted this beautiful stone mosaic apparently advertising the "Cafe Romana" down a flight of stairs. In a city where art is everything, I figured I could not go wrong with this cafe. And I was not in error with this choice.
The food was excellent at a very reasonable price, with great service and wonderful atmosphere in that deep basement location. Before I left the location I made sure to photograph the mosaic that led me there to help preserve a fond memory of my night in Vienna, Austria. In the dim light I used a hand railing to steady my camera for this long exposure.
CONTEST WINNER: 1st Place, "Mosaics. Mosaics Everywhere" contest, sponsored by the Mosaics, Murals and More art group, April 2024.
