A solitary Saguaro cactus is silhouetted against the colors of dusk with the sliver of the first day of the crescent moon alongside. This photograph was made at Saguaro National Park (West) near Tucson, Arizona, and looks southwest across the Altar Valley with Kitt Peak looming in the background.
Each long exposure under this dim lighting is a challenge to balance clarity and the capture of the true color of the evening sky. Many experiments are required in quick sequence, and this image reflects exactly what my eye perceived at this remarkable moment.
