Description
Goat Island Mountain is a minor peak in Mount Rainier National Park. Located south of Yakima Park and across the White River Valley from the Sunrise Visitor's Center, Goat Island Mountain is 7,388 feet in elevation. During the late summer months it is a popular hiking destination, but when this photograph was made the winter snows had not melted sufficiently for alpine access.
This view is from the Sunrise Visitor's Center, and was made in the evening of a typical Mount Rainier day. The weather forecast was for clear skies, but the mountain makes its own weather and it wasn't until early evening that anything but fog could be seen from the various park areas. Just before the sun disappeared behind the massive mountain in early evening the clouds finally cleared for a few moments. Long enough for me to capture this image before the clouds filled the valley and skies once more.

This image can be purchased in widths up to 7 feet with remarkable clarity to decorate a hallway, corridor, or other difficult interior spaces.
