Description
Deep in one of the worst droughts ever in the desert southwest I came across this agave in tall, dry grass near Dragoon, Arizona.
The Dragoon Mountains of far southeastern Arizona are where the Sonoran Desert of the west meets the Chihuahuan Desert to the east. The dominant succulent here is the agave, and the valleys are typically grasslands. Here a solitary agave is surrounded by dried grasses during the dry months of spring.
