Description
A high cloud layer reflects the brilliant orange of a late spring sunset at Saguaro National Park west of Tucson, Arizona. The season of the year is evident from the dried lowers and ripening fruit atop the silhouetted giant saguaro cactus. The saguaro flowers bloom in May, the fruit set in early June and ripen in late June through early July.
The extreme heat of this season puts a lot of dust high into the atmosphere. When mixed with high, thick clouds, the dust and heat can create some spectacularly colored sunsets.
