Description
The climax of the sunset color on October 4th, 2009 as seen from Tucson Mountain Park and Saguaro National Park west of Tucson, Arizona. The sunset was rapidly descending in the western sky the high clouds reflected brilliant yellows yielding to gold, then orange, and finally to pink and vivid red.
This photo is the 16th in an extensive sequence documenting a sunset that is now the yardstick that all others I may see will be measured. It was an 18 minute experience of extraordinary color. To capture this glorious scene I zoomed in from my widest angle and increased my exposure time again as the light faded rapidly. This photograph was made at 6:17:28 PM, and the exposure was 1/10 second at f/11. Focal length of the lens was 52mm.
The entire sequence of this sunset can be seen in my Evolution of the Sunset, October 4th, 2009 collection. Use this link to go directly to the collection: https://fineartamerica.com/profiles/1-douglas-taylor?tab=artworkgalleries&artworkgalleryid=1054227
