Description
Sunday, October 4th 2009 gifted Tucson, Arizona and the skies west of the Tucson Mountains with one of the most magnificent and colorful sunsets I could ever hope to witness and photograph. Having recently converted from film to digital photography, I finally realized that digital film is very inexpensive, and instead of making a small selection of images I photographed this sensational scene from beginning to end. It took 18 minutes, and at the time of this photograph my camera was telling me that I had very little battery power remaining.
This photo is the 17th in an extensive sequence documenting a sunset that is now the yardstick that all others I may see will be measured. It was an 18 minute experience of extraordinary color. I captured this glorious scene at 6:18:20 PM, and the exposure was 1/10 second at f/11. Focal length of the lens was 52mm.
