Description
The sun sets as a red fireball into a cloud of forest fire smoke in central Oregon. This eerie photograph dates back some years ago to a time where smoke from western fires blanketed the entire Pacific Northwest.
Successive mornings had seen this same phenomenon as I traveled from the Canadian border in Washington until I stopped at the very location I had witnessed a small forest fire explode into a 50,000 acre monster two weeks prior. Now the sun set into the murk as it had risen, as a red fireball.
Nowadays, at the end of summer, the smoke plumes from western fires has blown across the breadth of America and tinted the sky over Europe. This, my friends, is the face of Climate Change and a glimpse of our future.
