Description
High autumn clouds announced the beginning of an October sunset by turning a brilliant gold. It was the opening act for one of the most colorful and dramatic sunsets I have been privileged to witness and photograph. The giant saguaro cactus silhouetted here was somewhere between 160 and 200 years of age when this photograph was made. Sadly, the dreadful drought of the past 15 years in the American southwest has taken this iconic cactus recently.
